Marimekko Mono Mini Tote Unikko Bag, Cotton – Light Blue

Marimekko’s Mono Mini Tote bag is decorated with the classic Unikko print in fresh shades of natural white and light blue. Made of unbleached organic cotton, the bag features short handles and an open exterior pocket with a printed Marimekko logo. This small yet sturdy tote bag can also be used as a handbag. The fabric is printed in Helsinki, Finland.

The Unikko pattern came about in 1964 after Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, had announced in public that no floral fabrics are designed at Marimekko. Maija Isola did not accept rules or restrictions and designed in protest a complete collection of bold floral patterns: Unikko, a Finnish word that means poppy. Today, Unikko is one of Marimekko’s best-known patterns and recognized around the world.
